If you have seen artists doing something cool and different that's making them enough money to live decently on, that would be great! I just need some ideas.

How about having a locally owned small cafe or coffee shop display your art for you in their shop? I've seen it done in several shops around my town. Or another option could be a local Farmer's Market, Flea market, fair or convention where you can buy a space (usually a table) and you display your stuff there. Good luck!

Some businesses will hire Art students/grads. to paint a scene on the side of there building because they want to use the area outside for a cafe'/band/romantic get-away..., and the white/brick/weather-worn-wall that stands there naked and ugly just doesn't entice customer's to "come dance/sit/hang-out outside". (I'd like to hire someone to paint a scene on my car!) Also, as for the low start up cost: The one that hires you may be up for buying the supplies for you, and then paying you the diff. once the job is completed. (I've done that before when I've painted houses, done tile work... for extra cash. Worked out well for me!) God bless you - I hope you come across the path of an art aficionado! And, I pray afflatus to you! Amen! :)
