The bank statement clearly shows the checked has been cashed and the back of the check has Cingular all over it (via there automated machines). Cingular won't do anything about it.

If you bank online, print out a copy of your bank statement where it shows the check posted. Use white out or a black marker to cover almost all of the other information. Leave your name, address & checking account info untouched. If you don't bank online, get a copy of your account from the bank. Make sure to get a front & back copy either online or from the bank.

Call Cingular back & tell them you have the proof of payment being cashed. Ask them if there's a different address to send the proof to. Sometimes, they'll allow you to fax it to them as well. If mailing, send it Certified so that someone has to sign for it & then you'll have proof if they claim not received. If faxing, make a cover sheet & put the date on it. Using scotch tape, tape the check to a blank page, front side showing that you wrote it to them. Send it through your fax machine to make a copy if it can do so. If not, then make the fax 3 pages, cover page, front of check & back of check. Remove tape & turn check over to copy or fax the back, showing that it was cashed.

If faxing, make sure to get the name of the person you spoke to that's handling this issue. Also, ask for their supervisor/manager's name. Cingular employees have SOME kind of identifying info to give out, whether it's an operator number or part of something else. Put that info on the coversheet to his/her attention. Write your Cingular phone number on the page with the check on it, either front or back page if you have 3 pages like this: RE: Cingular # (123)555-2222.

They should be able to solve this issue for you in about 24 hours or less. In the future, DO NOT make payments by check through the mail. Pay your bill online or through their automate system instead.

Send cingular a copy of the check showing that they cashed it. They will be able to check where the payment went. They probably applied your payment to the wrong account. In the meantime, they should not charge you any late fees.

Get a copy of the cashed check and take it to a Cingular representative for proof. They should be able to fix your account. If they don't, escalate the issue to a manager.

First off, go to your bank and ask for a certified (or notorized) copy of that check. Then, either you can send that copy to Cingular and see if they believe you then. OR you can go seek legal help with the evidence of the copied check.

First ask your bank to confirm that the monies were received by the bank that the money was transferred into. They should be able to make sure that the routing numbers were correct and that nothing went wrong. Either you'll find out that nothing was wrong, one of the banks were at fault or you were. Obviously if it's the bank (check they're actual policies regarding time lines for bill pay transfers), then make them deal with the fees or your fault (wrong account number etc--obviously not likely since this is bill pay) you yourself pay for them. If it's just something that was no one's fault agree to split the fees and move on. Things like this happen in life, no reason to spend you time arguing over a few dollars, when it wasn't either of your fault.

I don't know if it's true of other cell phone companies, but i find Cingular's customer service to be atrocious. Have you tried faxing or mailing copies of the check to them? Good luck.
