I have played video games in many different stages of life and unless you have played them and enjoyed it and done well, you cannot understand the feelings it gives you.

I think your young boy may be getting a feeling of accomplishment, he could be earning respect among his peers and it could be good for his self esteem in certain ways. Your telling him to turn off the game could be seen, by him, as twarting his attempts to get those good feelings.

If you are interested in his point of view, talk to him about how you both can get what you want. If you can, be a little flexible about when you leave for an errand or have dinner. You may want to warn him 30 minutes in advance, then again 15 minutes before the time. You and he should sit down away from the games and agree that when you tell him you are going to have dinner or need to leave the house in 30 minutes that he should stop playing when he gets to a point he can stop. That way he can end the game the way he wants to having accomplished the task or level he was working on and save his game in a good position that is advantageous for him when he starts back.

You need to also tell him that if he starts up again with not enough time to finish, that he will have to interrupt his game, so it is best for him to stop when he gets to a good point.

This approach will give him the feeling you care about the good things he is getting from playing the game.

On the other hand, you need to regulate his time playing the game so it is not his only focus in life. Have him do things like go swimming, now it is summer, help with yard chores, and learn how to pull his weight as a part of a family. This trains him to be responsible when he is a parent. But, All work, like All play makes Jack a very dull boy!

My 8 year old gets in to the game and wants to complete his task before he shuts it off so I usually don't let him turn in on unless he has time to complete something that way we avoid the arguments.

Because they are kids! You are basically telling them to stop doing something they enjoy for what they think isn't a good reason. There's really no way around it. Hell I still get mad when I have to do something that takes me away from my precious, precious computer games. :-P

Kids often have a hard time with transition....you need to teach them that it isnt the end of the world, and they will get to play again.....
Personally it sounds like the child spends too much time with the "game" if this happens everytime you want him to do something.
Try spending personal time with the child...
Then when you want him to do something he will be pleased that he gets to do it with you

not all pedophiles were molested themselves. in actuality, i'd likely wager money on them not being molested as little ones. psychological evaluation is mostly anecdotal because anybody can undergo in ideas some thing-it would not make it real. Pedophiles locate little ones sexually suited because it really is human nature to locate young ones sexually suited(little ones are able to producking extra offspring than old people), yet often times the change in the mind that's meant to go back on to tell apart "in a position"(fertile young ones on up) from "incapable"(pre-pubescent little ones). This also falls in the component to societal constraints. each guy on earth famous 14 year old females(a minimum of people that educate actual warning signs of sexual adulthood) as sexually suited(a achieveable mate)-yet, society has deemed it unacceptable to copulate with those less than the age of 18(16 with consent), so people purely application themselves to disclaim the area of their ideas that tells them they don't opt to have sex with that curvaceous extreme-college freshman. Why do you imagine guys have this style of fixation on college-female uniforms and cheerleader clothing? because it really is a secure decision. Dressing a 20 year old lady up like a 15 year old female satisfies that area of the guy's sexual opt to have sex with the female who can doubtlessly provide the most associates(the youngest women able to ovulating).
