I don't think they love the sport more than they are patriotic. It's a combination of sport and sense of being in a community. And that it's once every 4 years.
That's what we need to do with our sports.

Geo K put it best. American football is very beloved in this country. If there were 20 Billion people in this country we would have at least 5 billion fans. Come on a Worldwide sport and you can only get a billion. Dude I wouldn't brag about that percentage.

Your screen name says it all, its the only game you have. Soccer is like water. Everyone has water at their disposal. It is healthy and affordable. Football is like wine. Only the fortunate can drink wine because it is rare and expensive. There are some that have had water all their lives and when they have the opportunity to drink some wine, they do not like it because it does not taste like water. It is similiar to water, but not water.
What I am trying to get at is that many countries only have soccer. If you like sports, you can only root for soccer. Luckily, America is fortunately to have not only soccer but every other sport known to man found somewhere within its borders or territories. So Americans can root for what they want, play what they want and drink what ever they want.

it does and you soccer geeks need to stay in the soccer category. this is football. a real sport. football fans are a community who can disagree with each other while maintaining composure. soccer is a sport filled with racists, riots and fans streaking through the stadium. you tell me. is that passion or just plain stupidity.

Not really, I love football(american) and baseball and Im glad if I want to I can go and see a live game and afford it. Im not a fan of it because of the size of the fan base Im a fan of it because its what I like. If I liked hockey thats what I would watch. Im not a fan of the fans, Im a fan of what I like. To me soccer is boring.

I WENT TO A BOXING MATCH AND A SOCCER GAME BROKE OUT...........
the fans fight more at soccer games then they do at any other sport........

The NFL already has everything soccer does plus one more important feature......the games are fast paced and exciting unlike your boring, slow, lethargic game of soccer
