You're question is too smart, and you will get very little response. People only like to reply to questions that have to do with Caca or masturbation. I actually prefer to ask questions about Caca and Masturbation, and sometime mature ejaculation. Yes. My ejaculations are mature. I don't let them come until my balls are ready to explode in her mouth.

Now, with that said, the answer is pretty easy:
1. Raise tax rates on the rich a good 15 to 20%.
2. Have a standard deduction of $100,000 that would eliminate the aggravation of the tax to those people who work hard and are getting nowhere in life because of our repressive tax system
3. Make paying rent tax deductible too!
4. Implement taxes on capital gains

That's what I would do. Seems fair to me.

Where are you living? Because that's an interesting question.Over here in England we have a very different situation: a huge middle class and a diminishing working class, due to improved standards. This problem is especially prevelent in the south east, where most of the people are middle class. No one wants to get their hands dirty any more, and improved education and economy etc means many people can manage to get middle class jobs and lifestyles.

I'd like to know what's happenng and why where you are.

Middle class is a percentage of wages between lower and upper class. Therefore, it can not just diminish.

The middle class in America is not diminishing, the truth is that they are actually become more affluent. Sadly, the Rich are getting to be so much richer than the poorest of us. Sometimes,8000 times richer. The middle class will always suffer the pain of trying to make things better for their children than it was for them

The standard of living for our "lower class" is still far better than most places. How many people do you know without at least one TV? Cable/Satalite? Computer? Car? Telephone? Electricity?
This country has little understanding of the real concept of poverty. Other countries with dirt floors, no running water, swollen bellies, no schools.....
I would also argue that your chance of changing your economic class is much, much better here than in most countries.
