It's disconnected but I physically cannot figure out what's holding it in place. There is a sliding green bar and it slides back and forth but doesn't seem to disengage the drive in either position. The set screw is already removed.

There might be a couple of thumb screws still holding it. Sometimes they are sneak a couple of screws onto the other side of the case where you cant get to it without removing the entire case. (Actually happened on a client's PC I fixed.)
If not then you aren't sliding the green bar all the way to unlock.

There should be a couple of screws that hold the holders in place. Also, there are a couple of tabs, looks like you need to lift up slightly to clear them of the holes securing the tabs.

Open case, unplug power lead and ribbon cable, take out screws on sides and slide it out. Be sure power cable is unplugged before opening case.

There are pc recycling centers in the course of the country, that could be a sturdy selection. in the different case, some pc shops or digital shops would gladly take it and recycle it for you.
