How do I get my novel published?

I have written a great novel. Who do I send it to that hasn't got a slush pile a mile high.

The best way to go is to send it to local publishing houses in your area. Or another good way is to send it to the publishing house of your favorite book. Or you could look into publishing it yourself or going electronic and publishing as an e-book that will off-set your costs and it's pretty easy to go to a reputable mailing list place and get some email addresses to advertise to. Believe it or not that would probably be the cheaper and fastest way to get your novel published. Or you could try the six-degree rule and see if someone knows someone who knows someone...

Sign up for an account on http://www.lit.org. It's free, and they publish your posts in a timely manner. For a novel, I would submit it by chapters or by parts. I am also a member of this website, and it is excellent.
The best thing about your work once it's published on the site is that you get to keep the ownership and copyright for yourself, so you can still get your novel published elsewhere (like into mass production in print).

Send it to every publisher you can find. Get an agent if you can. Send me a synopsis and I'll tell you if I think you are wasting your time

You need to send it to as many agents as you can, you'll get a lot of rejections, but you never know, you only need one who likes it and you're away! Best of luck.
