I think that is too much. What about freedom of speech. I just saw someone reporting someone because they asked a question in Spanish. Would'n you agree that that's ridiculous?

We are in a free world. I'm writting answers in Italian, Spanish, French, Portuguese and Spanish.
Perhaps this guy would just like to know how many people speak spanish here... what is normal....

By far, if you speak spanish, you can talk freely in more than Half of the world. Next language is Arabic. Chinese is spoken only in china.

Agree with your analysis and congratualations fro your broaden vision in this so small minded world.

There is a Spanish language version of Yahoo!Answers. I accidentally got there one day, though I have no idea how. Since I don't speak or read Spanish, it would have been a waste of bandwidth for me to have posted a question there, eh?

Same here. This is the English language version. (Though it is *certainly* not the "Americans only" version, no matter how much some people may think it is.) I bet the !Answers team, if they did anything, would tell the questioner how to access that site.

But I wouldn't report it unless it were becoming much more common. Saw a question in (I believe) Russian yesterday. I wouldn't want to have to scroll through page after page of things I couldn't read, though.

If asking questions on The US, Canada, UK and other English speaking nations, English is the proper language and a complaint is justified. If someone wants to ask a question in, say, Spanish, they should transfer to the Spanish section. See bottom of Answer page - the flags represent the different nations.

It's very simple. The guidelines say this site is in English. There are international question sites for other languages. Look at the bottom of the page. Keeping this one in English is not discriminating against anyone. It's just making it easier for people to use it. If all langauges were jumbled together, it would be too confusing for everybody.

According to the rules, English is the only language the questions can be in. I wouldn't report though because it's not hurting me in any way.

I think that's totally lame and ridiculous. People who report that type of stuff are just trying to vent their anger about the illegal immigration issue. People really need to get a damn life. C'est la vie!! (Uh oh.... am I gonna get reported for that?!?!?)

Well what if this person said something really inappropriate but if it was just for speaking in Spanish than that isn't right

Completely ridiculous. English is not the official language of the U.S., and everyone needs to chill out a little.
P.S. Hmelton17-I can read it.

read the community guidelines. it says to report posts that are in a different language. it is just wasting space because nobody can read them and is just stupid and frustrating.
