I know this is going to sound really stupid but I'm just worried that the astronauts in outer space can see me from up there... is it possible??

I don't think you should bathe in the sun if you're worried about voyeurs. Do it in your bathtub.

:-) Sorry

Seriously, no the astronauts will not see you. While it's true that satellites can take some pretty high-resolution photographs, this is specialized technology not likely to be found onboard the space shuttle or the International Space Station. And unless the intelligence community has something I don't know about, the resolution I'm talking about is good enough only to make out, say, a small car. Facial--and other!--features will almost certainly not be visible.

There are other problems with that scenario. Unless any astronauts (and there are usually very few up there) are in a geostationary orbit right over your location, the world is passing them by too quickly! And trust me, they're a little too busy for that kind of thing even if they had the equipment and the desire. Astronauts often complain of having very little time even to look out the window.

Wear your sunscreen and enjoy!

Anything from space requires a camera that can resolve the tiniest detail. Resolution ! You can Google earth down enough to make out streets, buildings, the hollywood sign, but it requires extreme resolution. Notice in goodle earth that you just cant zoom over the land and see details, but requires several layers of "resolving" to see details. The Great Wall of China is visable in some areas because it is only wide enough in some places. It is definitely long enough (the parts that are still standing). For example, it is noted by NASA that the one land formation that is easily seen from space are the Great Lakes. Or the Himilayas. Things have to be that big.

Was that you in the blue suit or the white one? (obviously just kidding)

No. They are so many miles away from the earth that the only thing visible on the earth from space is (well this is what some people believe) the great wall of china. The atmosphere makes it impossible to see anything on earth from space.

no it is not. the great wall of china is barely visible from space! also from an airplane fairly close to the ground a super walmart is hard to see. wear sunscreen or tan lotain or you will get ageing spots and skin cancer when you get older.

They might be able to see you -- hell, the CIA can probably see you! -- but that doesn't mean they're looking.

Just in case, let us know where you live; I want to check Google Earth to see if you show up on any of their pictures.

I guess anything is possible. You might want to be worried about satellite photos... or your neighbors taking pictures. But mostly, you should be concerned about skin cancer.

No astronauts can't see you but, have you heard of skin cancer?
