Just more details about the site:
It runs on Jboss server using MySql , Hibernate and struts.
The whole site is build just on one servlet controller and one stateless session bean
I am hoping to make it more interactive and intelligent with Ajax magic

The design's fine, so no problem there!
However some of the grammar is poor. For example:
"What ever professionals need" - Shouldn't that be "whatever"?
"Which one of the following features you prefer most in a professional portal" - If that's a question, where's the question mark? Also you need to put "would" between "features" and "you". And it's "most prefer", not "prefer most".
"different breed of an online professional resource" - you don't need the "an".
You may think I'm nitpicking, but what's the point of having a professional design if you write like a 12 year old? Whoever's using your service won't be impressed.
No doubt there are a few more less obvious mistakes, so get somebody with good grammar to check it over for you.

Looks good, but when my mouse pointer is on the green thing that looks like a footprint, the yellow popup thing flashes on and off about 5 to 10 times a second.
Browser: Firefox 1.5.0.4
It was OK in Opera 9.
In both, the page load time is several seconds (I am on high speed).
Just a note - you can invoke the Poll thing but it does not say you cannot vote until after you try to vote. The voting link should be suppressed, maybe replaced with 'you could vote if you were logged in'.

Your site looks professional. I think the theme is too diluted though. I arrive on the site and as a visitor nothing catches my attention, just choices everywhere, and as a visitor who is confused about what to do, I would probably look elsewhere.Perhaps I dont understand what the site is about. Congrats on getting the site to rank so highly though. At 57,000 thats a high rank for a new site.

It's a good start. I had difficulty with all the red text though. It may cause difficulties for the 10% of men that are colour vision defective.
More graphics maybe - a little cluttered looking.
I'd be proud of myself if it was mine. Well done.

Looks good. Great idea for a site. Easy to locate what u want to find/do. Interesting colour - dark orange. Overall, excellent. I haven't tried all the links to see if they work correctly. I'm stuck on my proj & keep sidetracking!!-((( Keep up the good work. Great logo 2.-))

the professionalism is not visible in the website...compared to the data displayed the website looks very emoty and dull..the color coding is also not professional and looks morre like a cms

i think you have got to much going on..on the front page one of the first things i leaned in web design was one have a focal point on the the front page and two. don't make it to busy because people need a place to start looking. plus if its to busy it will confuse people
but it is ok
