My one bush bloomed like normal in May and now it is blooming again in July-very weird. I thought they only bloomed once per year??

From a gardening column of the Times Herald-Record

"Most of us are familiar with the lilacs that bloom only once in the spring.

While not as common, there are varieties that bloom twice a season. Most of these varieties are also dwarf, only growing 3 to 6 feet in height and width.

Here are some of the varieties that flower twice a year.

- Josee lilac blooms profusely each spring and, with deadheading, continues to bloom all summer.

- Fairy Dust lilac blooms twice each year, once in late spring and again in late summer.

- Prince Charming lilac blooms in late spring and again in fall.

Some of the varieties don't always bloom as reliably as they may say, but some varieties are true repeat bloomers, as you already know.

Record Online is brought to you by the Times Herald-Record, serving New York's Hudson Valley and the Catskills."

Have to admit that it is a new one on me, but I'm delighted to hear about it. Will have to remember it when I get my new lilacs. I love them!

i think it is because we all got a warm front and then a cold one after then it got hot again. I had the same thing. But they only should bloom once per year yes

Both are good for you, each fruit/vegetable has different vitamins. Therefore as more variety, as better. Vegetables have generally less sugar than fruits.
