If so what did they say and were they right to say that? My step-mom hate Bush and said that they were telling the truth about what he said and I'm to afraid to stick up for Bush when it comes to talking to her because shes always drunk when she talkes about it.

Yes, I'm a huge dixie chicks fan & I remember very clearly. Lead singer,Natalie Maines, said that they wee ashmaed that busch was from TX (their home state), Nat apologized a few days later & then recentyl took it back & siad he deserves no respect what so ever & doesn't regret saying any of it! I thik it ws right for her to say because she has that right & she exercised it, unfortunatley though the Presidnet has gotten over it there are soem that will not let it go. The first comment led to a huge backlash & their music was stopped playing on many radio stations, they also got death threats. Their new cd is Taking the Long Way. It came out May 23 & was number one on the charts until recently, now i believe it is number two right behind johnny cash. DCX Rock!! Freedom of Speech Rocks!!. but for the record I felt Bush was a beter candidate than Kerry. I don't like that innnocent people are dying & our troops are dying though.

They said they were ashamed that Bush was from Texas. I think everyone has a right to their own opinion, thats what makes this country so great. But what was so bad is that Natalie Maines was in London when she made the comment. I think it is pretty tacky to bash the leader of your country when you are in a foreign country. Anyway, that is only my opinion. And by the way, you need to stick up for President Bush. He is not perfect and I guarantee if there were a democrat in office that it would be the same way. People are going to bash whoever is in office.

They said (in public) that they are ashamed to be from Texas because that's where President Bush is from. There is such a thing as freedom of speech, but for people in the public eye to express such blatant 'embarrassment' of our President is in very poor taste. Hence their decline in popularity after the statement. After all, the majority of the people elected President Bush did they not? Because he isn't the best of public speakers does not make him less intelligent; he has done a great deal of good for our country. One only needs to look at the list of his accomplishments over the years.
