I'm pretty sure you know what a prostitute is or you wouldn't ask if prostitution should be legal. I think it should be legal and regulated, as long as the woman is not being forced into doing it.
Speedsgirl, don't you think it would save lives if it were legalized? There would be much more protection for these women than if they were working for a pimp.

prostitute - someone who sells sexual favors. Look at it like alcohol during prohibition...people were doing it anyway, and finally the government gave up and taxed it. Vegas seems to have a decent operation, the escorts there have legal protection. Legalizing it might be a step in the right direction to allow for government control and taxes...itll never happen though. Too many touchy-feely morality thumpers runnin around america...lets just keep it in vegas..ill be back soon...lol

I think the only reason the government won't legalize it is because they haven't figured out how to tax it yet. People are going to do it whether it is legal or not. I don't agree with it but there are a lot of things I don't agree with that is life.

A prostitute is a person (male/female) that offers sexual pleasure (doesn't always mean sex) for ANY form of payment (money, clothes, etc.). Yes it should be legal, it was legal before christian fundamentalists said that is was immoral (the same was done with alcohol)

It is legal in Holland. Arizona and anywhere within 50 miles of Michael Jackson.

Only certain actions should be legal. The doggy 69 from a bungee cord is too risky.

The law says that anyone that solicites sex for money is a prostitute. It is legalized in Las Vegas, and at the Playboy Mansions.

Absolutely legalize it. Paying for sex between two consenting adults should be a taxable, legal business. The government does not have the right to impose their 'morality' upon the masses!

Oh come on people...we are all prostitutes in some shape or form....selling our selves in some shape or form....doctor sells himself/ his services to his patient. in exchange for money....a sales person sells his product to his customer in exchange for money...(and yes, many times involves sex in the transaction to get the deal)....the politician sells himself to his constituants/supporters in exchange for votes and money to run his/campaign....(many times involving something even more immoral and harmful but also including sex)......I suppose another word for prostitution could be business....trade...capitalism...there are many forms of trade going on that are much more damaging to or society than the general conception of prostitution one person having sex with another person in exchange for money....and if you look at the definition that way....how about a relationship where one person is working and the other is not....they are having sex together and one is giving money to the other .....I must agree with one of the previous answers ....there are way too many other things going on in the world...to be worrying about the legal standing on prostitution....so legalizing it would give plenty of more time for our fine law enforcement establishment to spend on these more pressing problems in our world.
