It's actually designed to make typing less easy. When they first invented typewriters, the letters were arranged alphabetically, but the typists became so fast they would type faster than the machine could print the letters on the page, and the individual bars with the letters on them would get stuck together, so they developed the QWERTY keyboard because you have to type slower on them.

Because back when people used typewriters, the keys kept getting jammed. So someone figured out how to arrange the keys so that the letters that are used right after each other most of the time are spread apart on the keyboard so that they wouldn't get jammed so often.

If you have one of those old manual typewriters, you'll see that the keys are mechanically connected to hammers which strike the ribbon. Fast typers don't fully release one key before starting to strike the next one. The keys were arranged in QWERTY order to prevent people from typing so fast that they'd jam the keys.

"If you do it like that nobody will be able to SAY 'ytrewq' "

" If you put it the other way round they will be able to call the keyboard a Qwerty and everyone will think it was to slow typing down".
