Right, it gets red, super sore and itchy. I have the same thing some mornings if I sleep funny on it, but if it doesn't go away in an hour or so it could be a problem. Soak your earrings in alcohol and then rub alcohol on the ears twice a day. Be sure to keep earrings in the whole time, just super clean.

Some girls think that stinky crusty stuff you can sometimes get on earrings is an infection - it's not (it just hasn't been cleaned in a while).

Peace!

Believe me, I know! All the answers mention redness, swelling, itching, drainage. Most people recommend hypoallergenic earrings for sensitive ears. Guess what? I'm even allergic to those. I finally had to buckle down and pay out for real gold! Be sure to keep the earrings clean too, not just the piercing. I use alcohol to clean mine, but I don't know that it's not what affected the finish on some of my earrings, so you might want to look into a professional grade cleaner.

Itching, redness, heat, sometimes puss, very sore.

If it is infected see a doctor if possible.

Its very important to keep you fingers off of your ears after a piercing, bacteria will go from fingers to ears. Also, clean and turn earrings as directed by the piercer(with clean hands). Also, you might be allergic to the earrings.

Itching, swollen ear....if youre asking this question. Put tea tree oil on it to clean it. An aloe vera is good too. And dont wear earrings until it's healed completely.

i have very sensitive ears so if i wear fake earrings my ears (where the hole is) turns red...its start to scab a little bit ...it may not be infected/your ears are just sensitive to whatever the earring is made out of

if it hurts and its red and there's stuff coming out, its probably infected. if this happens but doesn;t clear up when you stop wearing earrings or in a couple days, go see the doctor.
