2 songs by James Taylor. "You've Got a Friend" and "Fire and Rain"

My mom passed away 4 years ago when I was 20. When I was little she always sang You've Got a Friend to my little brother and I. It was also played at her funeral. So, yeah, it definitely gets me emotional. As for the other song, it also makes me think of my mom. The lyrics are amazing, and touching. Here are some of them:

I've seen fire and I've seen rain
I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end
I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend
But I always thought that I'd see you again

Been walkin' my mind to an easy time
My back turned towards the sun
Lord knows when the cold wind blows it'll turn your head around
Well there's hours of time on the telephone line to talk about things to come
Sweet dreams and fine machines in pieces on the ground

Music touches the soul, no matter what kind of emotion it brings out. I love, love, love music.

How Can You Mend A Broken Heart by Al Green and Stand by Donnie McClurkin. Those two songs make me cry everytime I them.

How Can You Mend A Broken Heart
how can you mend this broken heart
how can you stop the rain from falling down
how can you stop the sun from shining
that makes the world go around.

Stand
What do you do when you've done all you can
it seems like it's never enough
and what do you say when your friends turn away
and you're all alone

you just stand when there's nothing left to do
you just stand and watch the Lord see you through
after you've done all you can you just stand.

the battle is not yours
By
Yolanda Adams

heres a sample of it

There is no pain jesus cant feel
No hurt he can not heal
All things work according to his perfect will
No matter what youre going through
Remember God is using you
For the battle is not yours
Its the lords

Theres no sadness jesus cant feel
And there is no sorrow
That he can not heal
For all things work
According to the masters holy will
No matter what youre going through
Remember that God is only using you
For the battle is not yours
Its the lords

Its the lords
Yes its the lords
Hold your head up high
Dont you fright
Its the lords
Its the lords
Yes its the lords

No matter what
Youre going through
Remember that god
Only wants to use you
For the battle is not yours
Its the lords

No matter what
You happen to go through right now
Remember that in the midst of it all
God only wants to use you
No matter what youre going through
For the battle is not yours
Its the lords

No matter what it is
That youre going through
Hold your head up, stick your chest out
And remember hes using you
No matter what youre going through
God is only using you

For this battle is not yours alone
This battle is not yours, no
You can not handle it all by yourself
No, no, no, no, no, no
Its not yours
This battle is not yours
Its the lords, not yours

This battle is not yours
The lord is the only one who can fight it
He wants to use you as his vessel
So be open to him
Its not yours
No its not yours
Its the lords, not yours

The battle is not yours
Its the lords

Hallelujah
Yeah!

I'd say "Left of the Dial" by the Replacements. It makes me think of times when you say "see ya later" to someone, but it usually ends up being "goodbye". And then you lose touch. I think it's heartbreaking when you know that someone who matters to you is out there, somewhere, and you don't know where. Why do we let this happen?

I have no idea if this is what song is about. But it's what I feel when I hear it.

"Fly" by Celine Dion. It's on the "Falling Into You" CD. I sang the song to and for my grandmother when she was unconscious and slowly dying in the hospital. It took me a long time to be able to even hear the song again after she died and while I can at least listen to it again, I cannot do it without crying.
