Im changing a head on my engine im doing it myself cuz i dont wanna put nemore money into the money pits known as 83 transams i barely wanna spring the 80 bux for a new head, i am also doing this on my own 4 the 1st time , next year i will be able 2 throw in a 454ci, i am goin 2 use this 305 4 now but i wanna know what parts from a junkyard would make it perform better i was told 350ci heads would drop its compression too much, but what about 350 cams? or 350ci intake, heads, manifolds, cam ? i am not skilled enuff to rebuild engine im kinda looking for bolt on solutions for extremely cheap$$$ junkyard parts preferred

If you don't have any money to buy junkyard parts...you surely won't have enough to feed the fuel requirments of the 454. Buy a ranger or S-10 with a 4 cyl. and build that.

most all the parts you name are the same on a 305 as a 350 the only diff in the 2 are are the 350 has a larger bore. intake cam manifold are the same the 350 head would lower compression a lot. if you had a 350 the 305 heads would work on that using the 305 gasget boosting compresasion a lot

Look into a 96 or up vortec 305 engine. If you could get a set of heads off of that, and a decent cam, you might get a little power out of it. However, you would have to buy an edelbrock intake as the bolt pattern is different on the vortec heads. That's as cheap as you're going to get, and still end up with a decent result.
