Keep writing to him, or emailing him to let him know you are very concered about his safety. Pray for him.

Worry is normal...and when troops are overseas....especially in active areas it is difficult to get ahold of them. The Red Cross won't be able to help you - they are not really connected to the military. See if you can contact a local training facility, and ask if they will give you a mailing address for someone in the same division as your brother and write him a letter. Send him some extra paper and stamps, maybe a few things to remind him of home, and just let him know you are thinking of him.

Unfortuantely, you can't just call up the Red Cross any time you get upset about your brother. It is not their job to be checking on him. If there is an emergency then you can contact them and they will help you/him.

Your brother joined the Navy. Long abscenses or lengthy breaks between conversations is part of the game. There's nothing you can do about it really except maybe pray and join a support group.

My brother is in the navy, He had email at the ship. And there's a website that give you reports on the Navy ship he is in. You need to know in what ship he is in. And the Red Cross will only contact him if someone in your family has died or are hospitalized. If you are worried and don't have a valid reason your request is not going to get priority.

This is to HeatherLyn.....he is out fighting for our freedom for you to say such horrible stuff as that to a worried family member!!

Babygirl, I know that it is hard not to worry, but you need to pray for him and all other service members over there. It is best to get a hold of where he is stationed and talked to them. The Red Cross is more for emergencies. Hang in there. My husband was in the AF (retired) and my son is in the Army will be leaving Monday to go over to the desert for 18 months. Yes, I will worry, but you have to be patient. Try writing him or email him. Good Luck and have some faith!!

That's probably the best way to contact anyone in the military, next to American legion or other military clubs.
However, if he's in the Navy, that might be why you can't reach him, it's difficult reaching anyone that's asea. Try the Red Cross, and they may be able to at least find out if he's ok.

Good luck contacting him.

You're "wording" for him? Ha. Why don't you just call the Red Cross and ask them how his -ship- is? Then either attempt to contact him your normal way again or ask the Red Cross to pass on the messag.e

Why? How long has it been since you heard from him? Why call the Red Cross? Call him.

Go to the U.S. Navy FAQ page on how to communicate with sailors. Most have e-mail. The page is at:

No, you should accept that he's in the Navy, and he signed up knowing that he could potentially die a horrible death. That's his job. He obviously doesn't care about his family if he's silly enough to go get blown up, so...forget about him while you can.
