A Porsche 914 with a 3.8 liter engine?!!! Really?

Well you'd better be a hell of a driver or you're going to spin like a top....sounds like a death wish to me (but fun while it lasts).

I trust this 914 will have upgraded brakes, suspension and tires, or I would suggest you take out a life insurance policy.

Subaru turbo is great but unfortunately it's stuck in the body of a Subaru.

I am guessing you are asking which engine you should drop in your 914.

I use to own a 72' 914 and wanted to swap out the pancake engine. I looked into a modification kit that was from California. It was designed to drop a small block chevy engine into the 914.

I just kinda snickered when I first read about it but after emailing a guy who had done the swap over I was hungry for the same thing.

He said it made the car into a pure rocket. Any make of car he got up against at a light he could just litterally rip the doors off of it due the horsepower to weight ratio. He said he had it up to 165mph but got scared after that.

Either stick with Porsche in Porsche or look into the small block chevy.

The subaru, but how are you going to get radiators in the thing? The Subaru flat six is a very popular aircraft engine and is likely to be more reliable than the 911 engine.

i'm putting an ej20t in my 67' 912 i like the reliability of subaru, cheap parts, easy upgrades, and subaru worked w/ porsche to develop the motor{boxer} configuration, dont take heat from the "purests" if you work for a living you may not be able to afford oem parts all the time.
