how do u kw 16 is actually the adult age? it could be anything i mean in islam you are considered an adult when u are 12 and we have to dress modestly etc as we are reaching puberty etc.. so why 16?

Its a man made law for a reason. At 12 most kids don't even know what the world is really like or what people are really like. They are still giggling and laughing and going to school. That there is enough for children to worry about. At 12 they barely are learning what puberty is. At 16 here you can still get in major trouble for touching. I think it is a society acceptance type thing and at 12 or even 16 they are still our babies and need to be protected. They need to learn in school and further themselves for a great career so we dont' have to worry so much about them. They are just not mature enough to except those kind of responsiblities yet and we as a society agree. That really is the only way I know how to explain it.

Hi there, I know here in America the legal age to be declared as an adult is 18. Not sure where you are talking about.

18 is the legal age for adulthood is the US. A 16 year-old is a kid who doesn't know sh-t from shoepolish.
