Do not call the number. Although many people believe that any 800 number is toll free, this is not always the case. Some of these are scams that cost $4.95 a minute and more.
Go to one of the reverse phone directorys like

www.anywho.com

and look the number up. If you dont get a listing, forget it.
You dont mention how you got the number. Since you havent said, I will assume it was left on a phone message or something.
Chances are it is a telemarketer or a debt collector.

Well if its a 800 number, Guess I'de call it , its free..Best way I know to find out.. Remember caller ID they will know who called so besure to block your number.. GOOD LUCK ROB

You might could check www.whitepages.com or just put the number in a search engine and see what--if anything--pops up. Or, if you're really curious and can't come up with anything, call it from a pay phone (or block your number from caller ID and call it that way)...you don't necessarily want these dudes to know your number.

type the number in on google, and it should tell you who that number belongs to.
