If you’re a dog walker, a waitress or a senator, a toothache is a toothache.
And don’t say illegal aliens, because Canada has just as much illegal, yet every single person is entitled and is given free, that’s right free health care.
Why are people walking around without healthcare, uninsured, and completely helpless, and yet we have the money to invade (sorry help) other countries, when there are still Americans working their butts off, without healthcare? How is that possible in such a superpower such as the USA?
really think before you start typing, cus the USA HAS the money to provide at least BASIC healthcare to all its citizen, but doesnt, WHY?

wmcritter, i have no idea were you are coming from, and what it is your trying to say.
in canada, the tax they pay when they buy gas, milk, suger, cigarettes, or whatever, in each province goes towards healthcare, education and road maintainace. why cant the same thing be done in the US, everyone does a little shopping right? each state in the US should provide for its own, if its to hard to the fed govt to help everyone.

We are no longer the super power we thought we were. This war is showing our weaknesses. The people that are supposed to be representing our best interests could really give a damn about us. So it is no surprise that we do have a health care crisis. Legislation was presented during the Clinton years but it was shot down. This country needs a big jolt of some sort in order to get their priorities straight. Health care is just the tip of the iceberg. There is a growing gap between the rich and the rest of us that is leading us down a path that will turn this country into a 3rd world country.

let me start this off by asking you a question. Have you ever lived somewhere, where you get guaranteed free health care provided by the government? Because I have, and I say no thank you. Free doctors visits SUCK! You are not treated nearly the same. If you shop around on the net you can find health insurance very cheap. Any responsible adult can afford to pay for health insurance in the united states. And that is the heart of the problem, these days many adults are not responsible! If people would take a moment to consider "can I afford health insurance?", before they financed a luxury SUV, you would;nt have the lack of coverage that you see today. Every body who thinks that their problems are caused by someone elses actions(or inactions) need to wake up, and smell the reality! I am by no means rich. But, in America every person has extreme opportunity. the freedom to live how ever you want to is a unique and wonderful blessing. And it would be another infringement of our basic freedoms to require that all Americans pay into a government health care program, that they may or may not want.
You like socialism? Then get out of my Country!

I don't know ANYone in this great country who is dying because of a lack of health care, and I don't think you can get any more out of my pocket without me having to lay off a few more employees and asking another to do their jobs on top of his to fix a system that's not broken. I'd rather not have some politicians decide what doctor my kids could or should go to and for what. Talk to some of your non-socialist Canadians about their health care and they'll tell you that it sucks. (The real socialists will cover by telling you how great it is that they don't pay a dime) As far as (helping) other countries, we need to do our best to hand our kids a managable World War 3, as it has started. Wanna sit back and wait for them? Go ahead, sit back and whine about how BAD it is here, and how we should have tea with Osama and Kim . My kids will kill a few more or die so you can.

because the U.S. authorities prefers to make investments in "protection" (genuinely, on protection contractors like Halliburton). The U.S. authorities has succeeded in convincing the yankee public that it really is endangered with the help of terrorists. the real risks to the yankee public, notwithstanding, have not some thing to do with terrorism. in accordance to annum, one hundred,000 people die from preventable medical blunders... also, the creation of the only-payer equipment will adversely result a very influential crew of well being coverage agencies, that are making good money less than the present equipment.

Because in my country, we are free to choose. Many people prefer to buy a color TV or junk food rather to get insured. This is just one example. It is not written anywhere that I'm aware that people are "entitled" to healthcare. I'm not sure where that idea comes from.

Because many of us believe in freedom, unfortunately not all of us. If I have the money to help my neighbor with healthcare costs, and choose not to, then that makes me a greedy, evil, son of a *****. However, in a free society, that is my choice. If you use the government to steal my money and force me to pay for my neighbor, then that makes you an evil, oppressive, totalitarian, son of a *****. Do you believe in freedom, or oppression?
