This Question stems from a question i Asked earlier about the 'The Gay Games' which can be found here:
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Am8gK6GdLtKUR.N0SKQ4f83sy6IX?qid=20060714065203AA2rXBe
I understand the answers people gave, but to me it still seems wrong for the 'Gaymes' to explicitly exclude a group of people based on their sexual orientation.
So what I would like to know is that since these 'Gay Games' are so important for gay athletes so that they can be around people like them and feel comfortable while playing sports would the gay community support the 'Strait Games' for those people who are homophobic, so that they would not have to deal with or worry about dealing with having homosexuals on their team.

Are you kidding? compairing the gay games to the special olympics or paraolympics? They have disabilities that inhibit them from taking part in the regular olympics- like not having use of their legs. Are you trying to tell me that being homosexual is a disability that inhibits you from playing sports? because if not, your arguement is terrible
as for the rest of you, you need to read up on the gay games...there are several former olympians a large group of NCAA division one athletes a pro bowler and ex NFL star. So clearly they have had no problem competing in competition thats open to everyone.
Just to be clear, all of you support discrimination against people trying to enter sports competitions based on their sexual preference?

Everybody loves Chris: I realize there are homophobics in the olympics-thats the whole point. at the olympics gays and homophobics both compete. At the gay games gays compete where they dont have to worry about being with homophobics. Shouldnt homophobics have a place to compete where they dont have to worry about being with gays? because just like gays cant help being gay homophobics cant help being homophobic.

Princess- the point is gays want to be equaly integrated into society and in addition to that want special events where only gays can compete. Therefore the only way things would really be equal is if there were events where only strait people could compete. Other wise they are premoting discrimination based on sexual orientation -the very thing they calim to be trying to stop.

Harry-Of course the people running the gay games arn't going to say that no hetero sexual or no homophobic people are allowed. But by calling it 'The Gay Games' instead of somtihng like 'The Acceptance Games' They have essentially done the same thing. Don't worry my proposed 'Straight Games' will be open to all people as well. Any homo sexual voulenteers to participate?

You know, this is a lot like looking at a groups formed to support any other minority and suggesting we would have a counter group to support the majority.
Look at the NAACP....the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. (organization was named before the terms "Black" and "African American" became popular). We all know the purpose of the organization, and the important role it has taken in the fight for civil rights, not only for African Americans, but for all Americans. But there is no way we could justify saying there Should be a NAAWP, for white people. OK, there's the KKK and the Republicans, but they don't count.
Do you get my point? There's a reason to have advocacy for a oppressed minority, but not to have counterparts for the majority. When the day comes that an openly gay person can compete in the regular Olympics, in the NBA, MLB, NFL, etc without it being a big deal worthy of mention and the furor that has resulted when an athlete come out, there will be no reason for the Gay Games.

There are many forms of discrimination and segregation. These can be done by individuals who hate a minority or by the minority themselves. The Gay Games were formed to allow gay men and women a place to gather and have a common bond, being gay and an athlete. There is also the Gay Rodeos which also do the same thing. It brings gay men and women together that enjoy the rodeos.
We do this because the rest of the world discriminates against us. Hope many Gay football players do you know in the NFL? How many Gay bull riders do you think are in the PBR? Answer is no one knows. Because if they came out and were themselves they would be harassed, bullied, and hated.
We as Gay men and women were force to create these games until we achieve equality. When we are allowed to marry, and be treated like equals in all of society, the gay games will vanish and die out. We will be able to compete in the sport of our choice with out fear.

Your question is invalid, because if heteros wanted to participate in the gay games, they would not be refused:
Who can participate in the Gay Games?
Anyone can become a participant. The Gay Games welcomes all people without regard to their sexual orientation, gender, race, religion, nationality, ethnic origin, political belief, physical ability, athletic/artistic ability, age or health status.
