Some of my fondest memories in traveling came from Canada.
US born here.
I'm old. I have traveled more places and countries than some have in two lifetimes. That's not braggadocio, that's a blessing.
Canada, East, Maritime Provinces, West, is so beautiful. Never met a rude Canadian. Politeness and kindness usually begets the same in return. Have made several trips, by air and RV, spent as long as two months at a stretch, till weather turned cold.
Don't ask me to make comparisons to other countries or people. All were wonderful, in their own right.

When I was in Toronto I heard a lot of people say eh and the first time I heard it I thought it was so cool to actually hear a Canadian say it instead of someone imitating a Canadian. They are very polite and friendly and love their hockey---just as long as you don't say anything bad about their Maple Leafs. I'm a Canadian wannabe, I would love to live where every one is so passionate about hockey!

I'm Canadian and say "eh" all the time. It was worse when I was living overseas and met other Canadians after a long period not saying it. I hate maple syrup and the Toronto Make Beliefs though.
What "do" Americans think of us? Not much. They have other more (or less) important things on their mind. Since we are basically living similar lifestyles other than the same-sex marriage, best shitty universal health care system and liberal drug laws, we barely register on the average American's consciousness.

I think a lot of the Canadians on Yahoo Answers here in the hockey section are really derisive about Americans and hockey, and it's really put me off.
Fortunately my experience with Canucks on the ice in real life hasn't been anything like that.
I have a lot of Canadian hockey friends. I do think there's a difference, depending on region, but not anymore than between regions in the US.

I live in Detroit, MI so I'm just a stone's throw away from Canada. I know plenty of Canadians, some of them being my friends. I know full well that you guys aren't a bunch of hockey-watching, maple-syrup eating, eh?-saying, flannel-wearing weirdos. You guys get a bad rap, just my people. I'm from the south of America.

You don't put maple syrup on everything? Bummer. Seriously, I've made a few internet friends from Canada on my gaming site and to be honest, I don't see any difference in them and us. Canadians talk a little bit different than we do sometimes, but that's not a big deal.Plus, you have a great flag!

I dont think we think anything about Canadians except they are our neighbors to the north. The only think we cant stand is when someone slips in some of your coins with ours.
As for Hockey it is known as the third sport here. Only hockey fans around are ones who actually have a hockey team in their city. Penguins here. Love Sidney Crosby.

To be honest, living as close as I have to the border, I really don't notice a big difference between the two countries.
In the city I live in there are more NFL fans than CFL or NHL fans. We don't say "eh" anymore than Americans.
If you live in the east coast, your more like people from New England.
If your from Ontario, your more like a New Yorker.
Manitoba/Sask your more like people from the mid-western US
Alberta, your like people from North Dakota
BC, your like Seattle.
All in all Canadian may spell some things differently, we may talk differently but we really are not all that different.

Canadians have a better national anthem- it's not about war and it's easier to sing. As for the people? I'm in NJ (no I'm not a Devils fan) and I haven't met many Canadians but I would think they're not much different than we are.
