One time in the lush Washington State Forest at Hurricane Ridge during dusk, some friends and I were picking chantrelles when we heard some loud, human-like grunts, then all these Alder Trees around us started snapping like twigs!! Well, we started running like we never ran before...we all were SO scared that we were all screaming and crying as we ran! Something was RIGHT behind us, and all you could see and hear was Alder trees snapping in half behind us! As we ran out into the clearing where all the adults were, we turned to look behind us and that's when we saw all the broken trees lining the path where we just were! Then we saw milky white clouds of white light encircling the air above where the trees had stood! It was the closest thing to a ghost I ever saw!

You have to be careful when looking at "evidence" of ghosts. I'd say about 95-98% of pictures, videos, EVPs, (Electronic Voice Phenomenon-Audio recordings picked up on equipment that is usually unheard by the naked ear) or any other evidence is fake. People can do amazing things with photoshop these days.
The way that you can tell a paranormal investigator is legit is if they are trying to find any other possible explanation for an occurrence before they call something "paranormal." So many of them you see on TV (Most Haunted on the Travel Channel is a perfect example of this) are total crocks. One little thing happens that can be easily explained and they go off the deep end thinking the place is the portal to hell. An answerer already said this, but go to www.the-atlantic-paranormal-society.com... they are great. They actually have a different kind of TV show called "Ghost Hunters" on the Sci-Fi network. If you were to watch their show you would be convinced. The thing that makes them different is that they only find true evidence of a haunting every now and again...I'd say about one episode for every 8-10. And their strategy is to go into an investigation to try and disprove a haunting instead of prove it. Excellent show and excellent group of investigators. Ghosts tend to be lost souls. They either don't realize they are dead, they can't find where they need to go, don't want to go, or living loved ones are holding on too tightly and won't allow them to pass.

Some are good, some are evil, some are smart and cunning, and some are pretty simple.

While ghosts and the paranormal might be interesting, there's a few things you might want to take note of. 1. Their already dead, so there's no way you're going to kill them or rid them if you piss them off. 2. They don't have a solid form, so if you try to harm them, you're only going to piss them off - **** man, their invisible, you're not touching them. 3. They have the power to hurt you, while they might be on the "other side" they can still hurt you.
