Must have been an online scam. I've noticed lots of free classified sites are warning users to this new type of fraud.
I think that you could face charges of grand larceny (if over $500) & I doubt you know who did this.
Make a police report ASAP, give them all the info you have re: the ppl who sent you the money order. Ask them what you might be liable for and ask for any suggestions on how to proceed.
Be more carfeul in the furture of online transactions AND NEVER SEND A PRODUCT OR WIRE MONEY UNTIL THE MONEY ORDER CLEARS!!!

On your part, the only problems will be financial. But if you can get someoen in your family to help you out, then be more careful, you'll be fine. The next time you're not sure, ask the police what they think.

Because the banking industry basically runs the country, the laws are on their side. You will more than likely have to repay it even if it is unfair.

They should have caught the error and need to be responsible for that. If they don't do the due dilligence in checking validity, it's on them. You need to call them out and point out their responsibility as it's their job, NOT YOURS, to verify funds and make sure it's legitimate before crediting your account.
