Yes....rape is any girls' worst nightmare: its the most scary thought that can pass my brain frankly, and any guy who likes that sort of thing or would like to rape a girl should get their head checked: there is nothing else that could scar a girls soul as bad as rape.....

I dont know what guys think about this, but i'm sure the majority of girls share my opinion

Well, I'm not an African-American woman, actually I'm a white man. But I've got to say, the Color Purple is one of the best movies ever made. Yes, it portrays incest and sexual abuse. It also portrays infidelity, racism, and domestic violence. BUT, it is NOT promoting those things, it is demonizing those behaviors. But, I see your point. Promoting desirable things is powerful. Promoting all the good things in life as perfectly attainable will be internalized by the audience, making it a blueprint for their own lives. So, basically, you are right. Promotion of all that is wonderful is important and needs much more attention. But, some of the stories we are told (like the Color Purple) help to align our hearts and minds with real experiences of other people, so that we don't hurt others.

The scary thing is how much it doesn't bother most people. In reality it really should mess with everyone because it's really serious, but it doesn't enough. I mean what does that say about all of us?

I agree.

There are some things in movies that they might have to describe or hint at to move the story along, but lots of times they go overboard and actually show it. Ecch.

Could you list some movies where you see this, please? :)

I suppose it depends on what kind of movie you're watching, and exactly how much they show. A somewhat surprising fact: most women have had the fantasy of being raped. (Not, of course, that they really want it to happen to them irl.)

Though generally, all acts of violence are disgusting, but we've gotten used to watching gunfights, car crashes, kung fu duels...why not add one more to the list?

Rape in movies does not bother me - it's a movie and not real.

Rape in reality makes me sick.

Women falsely accusing men of rape also makes me sick.
