Jimmy Carter,
if you really look back, he was an honest man who never lied to the country.
I am not talking about his policies or if adminstraion was success or failure....that is diffrent issue.
People wanted a Shiny city on the hill, Carter gave them the truth.
it didn't work out too well....

It hasn't happened in my lifetime, but that doesn't mean it's impossible. I think Abraham Lincoln may have been the last one to be elected without false promises. Are there any honest people out there willing to run?
On second thought, I think nefariousx is right. Jimmy Carter was our last truly honest President and, sadly, many people didn't fully appreciate it.
