I think their main goal (today at least) is to unite Muslims against Israel. This will serve their Iranian masters when the US strikes Iran. The logic?...Since the US supports Israel, and Israel is bad, then US is bad and should be stopped from hurting us (Iran).
For Hezbollah to attack the west (or US in particular) would give America a pretext for attacking Iran.
