i think it is still a major problem in the united states. not just against african americans, mexicans etc there is also a lot of reverse racism going on in the country. People just need to learn to get along with one eachother and not look at people as different races religions etc.

Yes, I don't think racism will ever go away completely... there will always be some people that for whatever reason cannot accept another race in some form or fashion...

Yes, I think aside from the answers mentioned above, most people do it to themselves. For example, if you are a black student in college, grew up in an all black neighborhood and you choose to hang around all black people all the time, or white people, who grew up in white neighborhoods, hanging out with whites, all the time. They are not forced to do it, but its a comfort zone for them. I think that is the biggest issue, people THINK they would feel more comfortable with people of their own race, which is not always true, but how would you know if you never tried to get to know someone of a different race, or background?

Yes, I think it is. So many feel 'race' is a card you pull not a reaction to feeling mistreated. And to many who don't feel mistreated use it. Racism exist in extremes as well and that is a problem.

in response to afvet3471: there is no such thing as "reverse racism." it spans all races and communities. and its a problem not only because of people's stupid prejudices, but also because they isolate themselves (in terms of living space, and it's usually a financial inevitability.)
