P.S. Hi, murdermeskully! New money behaves in *exactly* this kind of way; they are not used to handling great sums, and want to show off in an attempt to get the attention and approval of others. Old money is *quite* used to it, thank you, and is aware of the (many) obligations and responsibilities. Every old money person I know is indistinguishable from anyone else on the street.

Btw, I know many old money people who work like dogs.
