Does the stomach contract (go in or out)? Is the stomach full of air as well as the chest? When you breathe in, does it go to the stomach or the chest?

Lay down on the floor. Breath normally. The muscle you feel moving, just below your stomach, is the diaphram muscle. Start singing in that prone position and you will have a better "feel" for controlling the muscle. Eventually, you can control it standing, sitting, etc. Most people are not even conciously aware of the diaphram. :) So there's a trick to it for most.

Good luck!

Well I like to sing a lot so I have experince when you sing from your diaphragm your stomach tightens and I don't think the stomach is full of air. I think ithe air goes to both when you breathe in. Don't hold your stomach out it is hard to sing like that. Are you a singer if so I think it would be cool to talk to a fellow singer that is a guy.

Your stomach goes out. I believe that the stomach's expansion helps to push the diaphragm up (the diaphragm is the muscle right above your stomach muscle and below your lungs), which in turn expands your rib cage. With your ribcage expanded, your lungs have more room to expand and can fill with more air, allowing you to have a more sustained pitch.
