well they didn't listen to lousy rap music. but no. a thug is a thug.

EDIT what is with these people............."they had charisma, .class..." THAT'S THE MOVIES ! they were low life murdering scumbags, peeps. most of them were ignorant immigrants, they could NOT read or write.

i'll give them this, they did what they had to to survive a terrible time.

then you say they tried not to hurt innocents? go to library, get time mag and ny times on microfiche. do some reading.

better in terms of what? killing people? the mob has been glorified in movies and television ever since i can remember. women were dames or molls back then, now they are bitches. gangsters nowadays are glorified as well - more through music than the ones of yesteryear. i can't condone either groups' behavior, but it seems that the killing is more senseless and random now. i'm no historian certainly, but i believe that a lesser number of innocent people were killed in the 20's. neither group is better, their actions didn't better the community and are/were morally reprehensible.

Most "gangsters" of the 20's had some morals and could read. Todays don't have either going for them, imo.

Now, why would crooks be good people? They are all a burden to society.

I think they had a better style sense but they're still sociopaths and grownup little brats that mama never loved.
