All three major religions that are directly related to each other - Judaism, Christianity and Islam - teach love and peace. Yet, we have seen throughout history and into the present day, behavior from those religions that is the direct opposite of those teachings. Each of them have participated in persecution, discrimination, terrorist activity and open warfare against those who do not believe as they do. They judge and condemn others who do not practice as they do. Where is the love and acceptance that they so readily preach? Is it a case of "Do as I say and not as I do?" It seems that only Buddhism appears to be the one religion that actually practices kindness and compassion to all.

Particularly in the case of Christrianity and Islam, their founders instructed their followers to spread their teachings. Naturally, this came to be construed as to do so by force, if necessary, because the filthy heathens will burn in hell without the intervention and conquest by Christians. The problem is that both Christians and Muslims, due to the nature of their religion, can fall into the trap of believing that their belief system is manifestly "better" than others, and, by extension, that they are "better" than others because their religion is "better." This unfortunately fit well with the Western pysche and the superiority complex left over by the Romans as well as with the Arabs, who very quickly conquered a massive empire, reducing formerly suzerain powers like the Persians and Byzantines. Buddhism has been excepted that because it emphasizes the self, rather than a God or some holy mission. Also, the Buddhists never truly had the force of arms, so they used more peaceful means of spreading their faith, most notably by incorporating local deities as boddhistavas. Christianity and Islam grew up in complete intolerance, and especially Christians were brutally persecuted by the Romans in its early existence, giving it ample reason to look on "heathens" as hateful demons.

Yes, that was a little long. I think, ultimately, it is simply an accident of circumstance...

Religion. Quite an interesting subject, I have to say.

Religion in and of itself is a wonderful thing. I believe that every religion in existance has something to offer mankind.

I can see two purposes in religion. The first of which being comfort. Humans need comfort. We have this burning desire within us to know where we came from, why we are here, and what happens after we die. Religion can provide comfort to those questions, especially the last one. Whether it be through the concept of an afterlife (heaven or hell) or through re-incarnation.

The second purpose of religion is to better mankind.

Unfortunately, religion has never been too sucessful here. It's not the various religions that lie at blame for current and past conflicts throughout the world.

Religions do teach peace and love.

However, each religion is made up of millions of individuals. And individuals are what breed the hatred and intolerance.

Fanatics. Those who believe that "My God is better than your god."

Those who will kill and destroy simply because they are so convinced that their way of life is the only correct way.

As humans, we have a natural desire to condemn what is different. There are many who will take this fear of what is different to great extremes- to war and terrorism.

Those who are truly devout to their religions most likely share the same disgust and confusion as to these religious wars as you do.

However, it is not always the case.

Churches can become corrupt on a large scale. Just look at the Crusades, which was in fact condoned by the leaders of Christianity....
Tear apart a whole society just because they are different..

Maybe I'm an optimist, but I believe that the majority of society has become a little more forward thinking since then.

There will always be wars and intolerance between different groups of people- whether it be races or religions.

But, the blame should not be completely placed on the shoulders of religion, because most people with religious convictions really do want to see the world a better place.

But the few can taint the good name and intentions of the many.

Fear is the reason for centuries of war and hatred. Fear of what is different.

These three major religions act as corporations in tour world. They succeed and sustain through efforts of money and power. They lure customers in by preaching their motto's love, tolerance and understanding, when in fact the inventors of the inventor of these religion and original intentions (Abraham) are completely forgotten.
It is not the religions' faults. It is the advocates and leaders (CEO's and presidents). Some are very good, some are very corrupt. Followers and believers can sometimes be fanatical about their beliefs and want so badly to do anything possible to push themselves onto others. They become servants to their master, their prophet. They become fully consumed by the idea.

In any case, tolerance is not taught by these religions although within their subtexts, they do suggest it. People like to hear/ read what they want. These religions (all stem from Abraham by the way), are more aggressive ones with a history of "martyrdom", which many predecessors feel they must revenge history. As opposed to Buddhism which holds a much more peaceful past and is a very passive belief. There are not many horrible fears taught and preached.
I can handle being a cockroach in my next life, but i sure as "hell" want to burn for eternity.

Because the three religions are different and don't agree on many things. Religions who believe in a god/gods is the root of all evil, history shows nothing good had ever happened when a religion like that has power. Buddhism, on the other hand is all about the self. It's about finding your own peace, loving yourself, taking yourself to the best reaches of health and betterment possible. It's not about worshipping some spirit, ghost, or god. It focuses on the individual, not others, and especially not some created god. Why do you think that no World War has ever started in the Asian countries, why their people are more peaceful and happier.

Unfortunately although these religions have similar roots they are all subject to interpretation by their participants. Think about it, in all situations if people believe their way of doing things is the right way they will fight for their beliefs be it religion or politics. Quite frequently those two ideas become intertwined and not sharing their beliefs about one thing is taken to mean that you do not follow their beliefs about the other. The very basis of all three religions is the belief that they are the one true way. They cannot all be this. Therefore questioning their beliefs is questioning their entire way of life which causes automatic defensiveness. When people get defensive they usually become willing to do anything to prove they are correct. Hence, war and hatred.

When power and money enter a religion it no longer remains a spiritual path, it just becomes political group professing a particular ideology accepted by a group of people it has nothing to do with spirituality, and that has become the practice of faith in modern times, a business.

This means today religions are more about the power of politics.

It is like saying, you give me your power and I will show you my path, not necessarily your path, but mine, because I believe my way is better than your, as I am divine while you know nothing about it.

And that is the power of coercion, propaganda leading to mass scale conversions.

So, instead of living our truth we follow the practices that mimic it well, giving us a false idea that we are actually following our truth, our path. Instead of allowing our faith to inspire people through our actions, we want to them to follows us, by mimicking our practices. We believe in talking the walk rather than walking in walk.

But sadly if we would just live our truth anyway it would convert more people simply because we would be living example of our faith, and this seems to have what has worked well for Buddhism.

It is a blessing that Buddhism has by an large saved itself from being corrupted so far, where the rest of us have faltered, they have thrived, may be it IS a major religion after all, while the rest our just busy following comfortable practices so that we wont have to bother to change ourselves.

We even want to convert more and more people into our faith thinking that the more people we convert into ours the more powerful our faith would become, far from it, it is the weakness of our own faith that shows in our need for tactics or words to impress other people about faith, we don’t really have much faith in our faith, because if we had we would know what a true inspiration faith can be, if it shows through the life we life, then we don’t need any coercion to convert an one, just an open heart would do the job well.

Many people seem to have actually forgotten the lives of their founders Jesus, Mohammed or Judah; they feel if they simply followed its practices, it would be enough to change their lives. Meanwhile all we were really bothered about is how to make our more money or to have an easy life, we are not bother our spirit or our faith, we simply want power, money and fame and so our religions reflect the same, so when we'd change our religions would follow too, after all our religions our made and propagated by us only.

Now consider that Buddhism is also the only religion that didn't profess conversions ever, but still has grown consistently over the past century, and that too without sending a single penny, while the rest of us have turned our religions into conglomerates and political parties.

A religious system based upon a submission of the will would be a system far more likely to be very violently aggressive than one that is not based upon such submission: as, if a person chooses not to submit his or her individual will to the collective, he or she might possibly be perceived as being a threat to the system and the system may then take preemptive action against the person to eliminate the perceived threat. In some systems, such action might be required under the tenets of the belief system.

Because each religion possesses absolute belief that "that their teachings are the right teachings" Therefore they have the right to take over any land that is not the same religion. The USA is the worst because we have more power world wide.

listed the following are the data. There are trillian cells in a human body. There are 250 kinds of cells. each and every cellular is composed of atoms between 50,000 to 500,000 atoms. No atom isn't like the different. formula of atom (count) became no longer "created" by a being who ought to have sequences of those atoms to make contributions to his synapses (cognitive skills) or if something else, wanting a trend, which may aspect out a set of regulations that has been surpassed down from an foundation (figure) which won't be able to initiate out of no longer something. It became a mind-set to evolving, that finally presented about an complicated psychology which became equipped up from more straightforward source (as a unmarried celled organism, and previous to this, mix of atoms that made an molecule.) no longer something complicated can materialize out of no longer something. Alpha? Omega? My ***. Fields affecting fields created a resistance to at least one yet another and on the conflict of this, count became born. pretty metaphorical expression of this nature is what we experience is "solid and Evil." that is what the human techniques has come to % out at their very own regulations. The dichotomy of solid and evil, the authoritative source that created, and the flocks that stay below this is ruling... i'm afraid is only a expression. nevertheless, there is miracle in ourselves. Our cognition facilitates us to experience. What we experience is actual as we act on it. And our moves ascertain the way ahead for the universe. no longer any opposite direction round. So count on "of spirit" yet no longer the spirit itself. It would not exist.
