I am a licensed daycare provider in Rochester MN who does a preschool curriculum and offers the food program. I charge by the week. Infants are $175, Toddlers $155, and PreSchoolers $135. This is my profession.
Rates vary significantly from one area to another. Look up Child Care Resource and Referral in your area. You should be able to find out average rates for your area. Or call providers in your area and inquire about their rates.
Beware of having a friend do child care. Is it worth losing a friendship if your parenting styles don't mesh?
Whether you use a licensed provider or not, you are entitled to claim your daycare expenses on your taxes. If your friend is offering care for extra cash, she may be thinking it is tax free. She is still required to report her income.

Well, I have a 3 year old toddler and ever since I started sending her to daycare, I pay $60.00 a week and a total of $240.00 a month.
You are right that you do want to be fair to her, but she also needs to remember that she is not licensed and does not have the availabilty of funds and special food programs like most daycare providers do.
Daycare costs, all depend on what kind of area you live in. I live in a town of 12,000 people and the rates that I showed you above...are very average and there is no provider above $80.00.
So just go on your instincts....Good luck

I have a 2 year old daughter and the daycare she goes to charges me $19 a day and I pay every Monday for the week. They are open from 6 to 5:30 and they provide breakfast and lunch. I think it is kind of expensive but i trust them with her. Its a good school and she learns a lot. Education is key and you can only give them one chance to learn. You also have to know what you can afford too because it would be bad to get behind in daycare fees.

I am unlicensed, but have taken all the proper safety classes. I only watch 2 other children besides my own and charge $30-$50 a day. It all depends on the level of care reguired. The infant I watch is only $35 a day (10 hrs) and the toddler is $50 (6 hrs, special needs child). It all depends. Most other care providers I know charge about $130-$160 for the week. Choose a price based on your needs and what care you can provide for a child. If you are going to provide snacks, meals, diapers, etc. A word of wisdom, becareful who watches your children, some moms cannot handle too many infants.

I would do $80.00. $20.00 a day is fair for a non licensed friend. If you are good freinds and depending on how much you make she might do it for $60.00 for all 4 days. You might also think about if she is going to let you claim her on your taxes for the daycare credit, if not you might mention it cause you will not get that credit. When it comes to taxes anything helps. If anything I am sure she will do it for less that a licensed child care center.

every area is different, you could call local day cares to get an idea of the average price in your area - of course, since it is in a home and only 4 days a week, you probably wouldn't pay quites as much.
in my area, an average week is about $130 for a day care center. My daughter goes to a day care in home (she is licensed and watches 6 children) - we pay an hourly rate of 2.25 or a minimum of $75 a week - depending which is higher. I love this approach and it is much less then a day care center.
Good luck!

Depends on where you live. Here in Utah my friend pays $10 per day for her baby to be taken care of by a non-licensed mother. And another friend of mine pays $1.50 an hour.

When I worked in the Infant room for a daycare, it was around $1200 per month. It is expensive. For your friend, it depends on how long per day, but when I babysit, I charge $10/hr. Hope that helps.

as you have read in previous responses, the rates vary from area to area. my child goes to a military daycare and they charge based on your income. we pay $3.50 an hour. you should look into daycares around where you live and see what the going rate is, take the average and that is what you should pay your friend.
