i have heard rumouts that if you want to sneak something past a metal detector you can put the object wrapped in aluminum foil, and conseal it inside a shampoo bottle (shampoo still inside) does anyone know if this is true.
Id like the answer mainly for curiousity purposed not that i plan to smuggle anything lol

Not these days. Back in the 80's yes. The detectors have gotten better since then.

Anything metal (including foil, I think, they can't tell what kind of metal it is from the screen) that looks suspicious, will be immediately checked BY HAND at the security gate. It's better just to put it inside the bottle without the foil, unless the object is metal, in which case you're screwed.

Metal detectors detect metal the shampoo bottle has nothing to do with it. The x-ray picture will show the bottle with foil pack inside.

I thought this was going to be a question about smuggling alcohol in a bottle to a concert or a sporting event. Hah.

I no longer use film, but just having a lead-lined film bag in the suitcase would get me stopped every time in the boarding gate and they'd have to open up everything and look.

This is not true. Maybe with our old detectors and stuff... but, with new technology and the K9 dogs - you cant sneak anything by.

only if you put the shampoo bottle up your rear end, the fatty tissue is to dense for the detector to penatrate

upon my smuggiling days ,i prefer wearing whitey tighties,and crotching the "stuff" if itis small enough. also make sure not to have anything on you to alert the machine or wand. and just act "cool".. good luck
