Don't mess with Reiki unless you are being trained by a professional. You can seriously harm your patient and / or yourself if you screw up.

Well first Reiki will do no harm to any one so do not worry about that, if you want to open your energy centers most people who are not Reiki Practitioners will start by doing meditation and when you get the hang of it and you quiet your mind start by visualizing the energy centers, starting at your base, visualize the color Red and inside of that bubble of Red color visualize a bubble of the whitest light, and that white light will be collecting every dark color in that center and changing it to positive energy, spend as many time as you need in there, then move on to the second one this one with the color Orange and do the same, then the third one with the color yellow, and do the same, the next one with the color green, and do the same, next with the color blue, and do the same, next with the color purple and do the same, and last one with the color white or Gold which ever color comes to your visualization of these two.
Then just breathe in the energy and get it flowing in your body, see these energy center rotating at the same time in harmony, these bubbles of energy of the same size.....then finish by giving thanks to the Master of the Universe for helping you to get this channels open. GOOD LUCK AND GOD BLESS.

Reiki (Japanese: éæ°, English pronunciation: Ray-kee) is a form of spiritual healing and spiritual practice[1][2] believed by its adherents to be beneficial for treating physical, emotional, mental and spiritual diseases. Mikao Usui (usui mikao è¼äºçç·) originated Reiki in early 20th century Japan. According to his followers, Usui received the ability of 'healing without energy depletion' after three weeks of fasting and meditating on Mount Kurama.[3] Practitioners use a technique similar to the laying on of hands, in which they claim to be channels for spiritually guided ("Rei")[4][5] life force energy ("Ki") — flowing through their palms to heal specific parts of the body. A study in Alternative Therapies (Jan/Feb 2005 issue) said that in 2002 there were over one million U.S. adults who had experienced Reiki treatments. Reiki is controversial because there is no scientific evidence of validity. [1
