The fact that I was lucid and able to control my dream was the coolest experience-not so much what I did in the dream.
For whatever reasons, I do stupid things such as I drew circles in the air with such glee I must have looked retarded. In another one, I was so excited that I looked around at what I could do so I took a dream character and stretched him up. I've flew in one, but it didn't feel the same. It was like I was placed in the air instead of weightlessness.
I am getting better at remembering what I want to do when I become lucid, but my biggest problem is people waking me up before I get the chance.

The basic definition of lucid dreaming requires nothing more than becoming aware that you are dreaming. However, the quality of lucidity can vary greatly. When lucidity is at a high level, you are aware that everything experienced in the dream is occurring in your mind, that there is no real danger, and that you are asleep in bed and will awaken shortly. With low-level lucidity you may be aware to a certain extent that you are dreaming, perhaps enough to fly or alter what you are doing, but not enough to realize that the people are dream representations, or that you can suffer no physical damage, or that you are actually in bed.
I have done it. I once went to a meditation resort in India and walked around the grounds, checked into a room, and walked to the mountains.

Also called 'waking up inside a dream', its knowing you're dreaming when you are dreaming.
Normally when you're dreaming you only seem to have access to the dream situation and memories. But when you go lucid, suddenly you can feel your brain wake up with all your normal thinking and memories. It's an amazing feeling. And if it doesn't wake you up for real right then, you can do all kinds of interesting experiments in the dream.
One of the coolest experiments was to lay down in the dream, then wake up for real. I laid down on by back, but woke up on my stomach. The perception of my body twisting from my dream awareness to my waking awareness of lying the opposite way was really cool.
Also flying is always a favorite: seeing how high, fast, or small, you can go. Or just a leasurely drift through the canopy of a forest is most excellant.
Below is an interesting instititue devoted to its study.

Lucid dreaming is being aware of the fact that you are dreaming and gaining some control over the dream. I've done this. It's a great way to avoid a nightmare since you can route the dream into a different direction.

Yes and yes, it's knowing your dreaming while your dreaming. It wasn't one of the coolest dreams but it was sorta cool after I woke up and thought about it. I was dreaming I was in a house with some really evil people. These people had a bunch of baboons they sent out to attack other folks, sorta like the rats in the show Willard. During this dream I realized I was asleep so I decided to explore the house. I found a room with a mirror in it and I thought it would be cool to look at my self. When I looked into the mirror I saw the face of an evil baboon looking back at me. Scared me so much I woke up. As I lay in bed looking at the ceiling I could see that face staring down at me.

lucid dreaming is when the dream feels more like its actually happened after you wake up. I have had several in the past, the most vivid was one where I dreamed my mother passed away and my sister told me thru a letter. The next day I woke up thinking that I had actually gotten a letter in the mail the day before and was sad all day. When I went to look for the letter and couldn't find it, my boyfriend suggested that I call my sister. When I called my sister she told me our mother was fine and even if she wasn't, she wouldn't be telling me in a letter! It felt so real to me that it took several days for my brain to grasp the concept that that didn't happen!

Lucid dreaming is the practice of participating, to the extent of influencing, the outcome of your dreams. Try lucidity.com for more info. While I can't name a specific instance I have had lucid dreams a lot of times.
