Okay so I recently got into a car accident, I was sent to get an MRI, and that's when they informed me, that I have a herniated disc and a protruding disc on my lumbar (lower) part of my back, and that I have 3 swollen disc and one herniated disc on the cervical (upper where my neck is) part of my back. I am going to see the orthopedic this upcoming Wednesday. I have a lawyer already because they didn't want to pay my medical bills when I called myself, well now that they found out I have a lawyer they agreed to pay my medical bills, but now I'm going to sue the guy for the accident, if anyone knows I'm just curious, how much does a settlement for something like this kind of injury will I get back approx. a range. Thanks!

There's to many variable to say, but I would guess more than 10,000 if your injuries persist and keep you out of work.
Settlement amounts depend on things like how bad your injuries are, loss of work (how many days/months you can't do your job), loss of quality of life (like how long will your injuries affect you), pain & suffering, how good of a lawyer you have and stuff like that.

Document everything, follow doctor's instructions to the letter, go see the doctor again if you are still having problems - etc.

Whatever you do, don't use an ambulance-chaser who advertises on tv. The good ones don't constantly run the stupid cheesy ads.

Good luck.

Definitely do what morrigansylvan said as far as keeping track of all documentation and following your home care instructions to the letter. I can't count how many times we've had clients come back to us wanting us to "add" stuff to their chart because they need it documented for the lawyers. So make sure you are telling your doctors EXACTLY how you are feeling and how good or bad your treatment is helping or hindering you, because no doctor is allowed to go back and alter your records just because you say you forgot to tell them something. Seen it happen too many times at my urgent care. And I'm guessing if you've got all your ducks in a row...with yours being a back injury and backs never heal completely (had a herniated disc L5-S1 for 15 yrs. that still flares up occassionally), I would guess you could probably get more than 10,000.

Oh, and make sure that your doctor's office coded your office visit as a motor vehicle accident....the diagnosis should be MVA-Passenger or MVA-Driver (which ever one you were in the accident) and the ICDA code is an E code...can't remember exact number....this code will verify with your health insurance company and car insurance company that you were in fact treated for a car accident-related injury...usually used as a secondary code.

My parents got $10,000 total for injuries similar to yours. That was $5000 after the lawyer took his share so $2500 a person
