Dreamweaver is a commonly used webpage design/layout utility. Companies and design firms often use Dreamweaver to handle the bulk of webpage design. Frontpage on the other hand is a toy, worse than that it's got a bad track record for creating sites vulnerable to hackers. If you're at all serious about learning anything useful regarding web design I'd take a course that emphasises hand-coding xhtml as opposed to taking a course that simply teaches how to use an application.

Front Page is known for it's excellent abilities in the construction of realy really tacky looking websites. So tacky, some people call it Affront Page.
I have not used Dreamweaver, but it is quite capable of making as good a page as you can do with Notepad (a real webhead's editor). Given a choice between the tow, I would pick Dreamweaver.

Both are web site design software. FrontPage from Microsoft and Dreamweaver from Macromedia. Professional choice in Dreamweaver but if you want to learn the basics in web site design, Frontpage is ideal one. It's Wysiwyg (What you see is what you get) editor is really easy to use as compared to Dreamweaver. But Dreamweaver has a class. So choice is yours..What I can suggest, start from Frontpage and then move to Dreamweaver.
All the bset!

Dreamweaver is by far the better application and is more widely used in the industry than Front Page. If you are starting a course though, I would advise also learning some basic HTML, Javascript and CSS coding aswell, and not just relying on the application wysiwyg interface.

Do Dreamweaver! There's just no competition between them. You can learn FrontPage in an afternoon from a book and its awful. It adds superfluous code all over the place. Its for beginners who want a homepage.
Dreamweaver is the professional choice, it takes a little longer to learn but once you get the hang of it you'll see how much better it is.

Take the Dreamweaver option and use it to learn how to hand-code your websites (Dreamweaver lets you see both the code and a wysiwyg editor simultaneously), then you won't be tied down to one operating system or computer. Front Page is as much use as a chocolate tea pot, under no circumstances should it be used, ever.

Personal opinion, but Dreamweaver is a much more advanced application compared to Front Page. I have used both for web development and I have found that Macromedia just provides a better and more sophisticated enviroment than microsoft does. both are easy to learn, with supplied tutorials, or even better if you're taking a class on it. best of luck.

Front page make horrible html code and Dreamweaver makes mediocre code. If it matters what your site looks like on multiple browsers, do it by hand. If, however, you are only worried about IE, use Dreamweaver.
