My 4 year old sleep walks.... and it is scary. She doesn't know what's doing on after a wake her. But what's even scarier is the night terrors she had as an infant. She would wake up crying and screaming for me, and I was right there trying to wake her up. But she would still scream "mommy!" over and over, with her eyes wide open. And in reality, she was still asleep.

If it were the first time I experienced seeing a family member sleep walk, I would initially be a bit scared. But after the initial reaction I would recognize what was happening and take action as needed. Usually you just leave the individual alone while ensuring he/she does not harm themselves.

Yes, I have had this experience and it was startling. I figured out pretty quickly what was happening, but it was so odd to have my loved one look me in the eyes and not "see" me. So, yeah it is weird, but like I said before, once you know what it happening it is not scary after that.

My daughter would get up when she was younger. It was pretty freaky at first but one night my friends and I were sitting in the front room/kitchen area, my daughter walks out stands in front of us gives us a weird look and proceeds to walk towards the garbage can and try to go pee in it! It was Hillarious, i promptly walked her to the bathroom. I told her about it the next morning and she had no clue, she was about 6 when this happened.
