French is not that easy to learn but if you can, take a 3-month course in your country to learn the bases and then, go 3 months to France or Belgium (French-speaking part) where you'll have to practise every day. Find someone to talk to when you're back.

Go live in a country where French is the dominant language and the benefit gained by so doing is you will adapt to the the culture, rather than attending french lessons in a country of origin, thats a very big obstacle. Hope you can curl your tongue. Good luck. its fun as someone just said.

Runforthecure is right, but it's not going to be easy. Learning a second language is not easy, but it can be fun. Travelling is fun, and living the culture. You'll appreciate it more.
I'm a linguist and teacher. Take our word for it (but get instruction while away at the same time to help put it all together.)
