You want to MAJOR in guitar after only a year playing it?!?!? Unless you're an unbelievable player, forget it. They'll laugh you right off the stage. You have to be able to sight read, play a prepared piece, and do scales, minimum, for any music school worth the money.
I don't mean to seem cruel, but what you ask really isn't logical. You need to be able to play a difficult piece for a college audition. If you can't, you really should think of another major, until you get more experience under your belt. Go in as something else. Take lessons with the college prof who teaches the majors. See in a year or 2 what he thinks. Yes, you'll be in school longer, but you'll have a WAY better chance of success.
Best of luck to you!

how about an acoustic version of We Don't Get Fooled Again, The Who? It's pretty easy to play but you'll need range to sing it. A downbeat version of that song is very powerful. Just don't try to do the Roger Daltry scream (he cocked it up himself the other day!) or the bee bee baa baa boo boo bit at the start and end.

Hey there! just practice your cords allot. LoL that's the hardest part for me and switching fast from one cord to the next with out having to place were your fingers go one @ a time. that was the hardest parts for me when i got started. i don't know any ez songs that sound very good. but if you can get away with i, try making up a song. my cousin has been playing for about 7 years and is great @ that stuff and i've only played for about 3 years but making up songs is ez but sound complex and great!

Hey Joe.
C G D A E E
Loads of those chords on the neck. Lots of scope for improvisation. And it can be played slow and bluesy.
Good luck.
