They are no good. Though I do believe in helping someone actually in need until they are back on there feet, having such a system on a national level is just asking for corruption. Look at the welfare system, our countries exercises in socialism. Its Abhorrent. Able bodied people living off the government for no reason at all. It is the reason the inner cities are so terrible. If a women dose not have a man in the home she gets more money,so right there is a prime example of corrupt social engineering. For the most part, It is African Americans on the rolls in these places. Before LBJ's Great Society scheme, the black community was starting to prosper. Owning businesses, starting thriving communities. The illegitimacy rate was very low. Afterward,it all turned around for the worse, which was the reason for its implementation. So,no. Socialism DOSE NOT WORK in the real world,no matter how good it looks on paper.

Any government program that takes money from A and gives it to B without B earning it is a socialist program.

From Food Stamps to farm subsidies to grants promoting the export of US products abroad, I'm against them.

Read "The Little Red Hen" and "The Grasshopper and the Ant". I'm with Red and the Ant.
