actually there are two types
1- Giuded like cables(coaxial-fiber optic,.............)
2- Unguided or wireless and it has 2 types
a-directional(Point-to-point focused beams employing high frequencies)
b-omnidirectional(Waves propagating in all directions using signals of lower frequencies)

I also saw at some college, tcp/ip over homeing pigeon, sure it's slow and has lost packets, in som rural areas, it's faster than the telco's internet!
