There are many reasons for abnormal cycles. If you feel you may be pregnant your best bet is to see your doctor for a blood pregnancy test, as this is hte most accurate way of testing. Other reasons for abnormal cycles include stress, weight gain/loss, medications, illness, infection, hormonal imbalance, thyroid, polyp, cyst, amongst other reasons. If the blood test comes back negative, your doctor can do further testing to determine what the exact cause may be.

aqua_babe,
Like what Elle said, if your last month was stressful or you lost weight, you won't get your period. Also, most women who are physically fit tend to hot have such heavy periods and actually have quite light periods.
To prove your friends wrong and for your assurance, get a pregnancy test to prove that you're not pregnant. That is if you haven't had sex within the last few months or have had sex, but was protected. Periods aren't a thing to stress about, it's all about the environmental factors that trigger it. Hope this helped.
If you want to stay regular, I suggest that you get on the pill, our family physician prescribed my wife to take it to keep her periods on schedule.

You do not have to be pregnant to skip a period, but it is a logical conclusion to be made considering the limited amount of information that you have provided.

Okay here's a surprising thought. If u have sex (with a guy) without condoms or contraceptives being used, there exists a possibility...a very, very, very small, teensy weensy possibility that u can become pregnant.

Not true. If it were, I would have ten kids by now. A late period is just a late period.
