You actually "can" put your own pictures on a postage stamp.
Just do a search for make your own stamps.
I got some with my puppies on them. Then my family gets to see them grow up.

Make up your own mind and then do it! If you are in the US, anyway, you can buy stamps with your choice of image (as long as it's not copyrighted or too risque) from www.stamps.com or www.zazzle.com or www.endicia.com. These stamps do cost more than flags or dead presidents (about $10 extra for 20 stamps) but you can be creative.
