Quarks are smaller than electrons. They are what make up electrons and neutrons.

There are things smaller than Electrons, but an elecron is a lepton, which is a fundamental particle, and cannot be split.

As far as is defenitive at this point, and electron is a fundamental particle, and can't be split apart into anything else.

There are other particles that are similar in size to an electron, these would be other leptons, or other fundamental particles such as the neutrino, that I believe others were mistakenly referring to above.

A Neuron is a cell in your nervous system that relays information by the way of an action potential... thats biology, not physics though.

xbl has the right answer. Electrons are the smallest of the subatomic particles. Protons and Neutrons are about the same size while electrons are much MUCH smaller. Electrons are made up of quarks which pretty much boil down to energy. Ever heard of DeBroglie's Wave Particle Duality? Electrons have mass like a particle but also act like energy waves.

They say that atoms contains these things called quarks, they are believed to contribute to the structure of the atom. They are said to be about 100 times smaller than an electron. Im not sure about splitting an electron though.

there are things that are smaller than electrons called quarks which is what is in protons and neutrons. im not sure that its possible to split an electron, but i think not.

yea, there are some things smaller than an electron, like an atom, half of an electron, quarter of an electron, or a third of an electron

I believe an electron is an elementary particle, but Protons and Neutrons are made up of multiple Quarks. Look up quarks on Wikipedia.

Some guy in Brown University thinks electron can be split into fragments called 'electrinos'. However, there is no scientific proof yet.

string theory states that subatomic particles are composed of vibrational energy called "strings". each "string" vibrates on a specific frequency unique to its ultimate composition( ex: electrons, protons, neutrons). therefor, in theory it is possible by the laws of quantum mechanics to split an electron into its base component; energy. however due to the amount of energy needed and the Heisenberg uncertainty principle the probability is minimal

Atoms are made of electrons, protons, and neutrons that are made of quarks. This is involved in quantum physics. You don't want to hear about it.
