I don't agree with a death sentence for child molestation if the child didn't die as a result of the actual molestation. Humans with help and time can heal for the better majority of any emotional wounds. Death penalty for child molesting goes beyond the eye for eye theory. Life imprisonment, sure. Death penalty,no. And I believe in the death penalty and I have a child who was molested. And too, I've worked corrections. The death penalty would only protect these monsters from the other inmates.

Oh sure but why stop there how about the death penalty for all rapist and we might as well get the bank robbers, muggers, drug pushers, drunk drivers and jaywalkers while we are at it.
So you think that we have a perfect justice system that has never made a mistake? How many Innocent people do you want to murder in order to give you a false sense of security?
I say NO to the death penalty period. I don't care what someone did or how much evidence there is against them, I would still say NO.

Life imprisonment. No to the death penalty. It doesn't work to deter crime, and child molestation is one of the crimes that has the most false accusations? Do you remember the "recovered memory" accusations of the 1980's?
So, I agree with you that sentences need to be stricter, but not the death penalty. There would too great a risk of an innocent person being killed - and that would make us all murderers.

I have 3 children and i believe that the death penalty is to good for the tourer one gives to a baby, who molests. i believe that they should be given a shot of pettier salt and put in to prison with a Scarlett letter letting every one know why they are there. they would get a much needed treat meant from the other inmates every day of there remaining life!! then just a cell by them selves, time and my tax dollars paying for there execution... I personally would rather pay my tax dollars for the rest of there life's knowing what they done to a child is being done to them daily!!!!!

No to the death penalty for lots of reasons.
1, in a bad divorce it is almost routine that the ex wife swears the ex husband molested the kids.
2, mistakes happen. 30 % of the people sentenced to death in Illinois were found to be INNOCENT of the charges they were convicted on, by DNA evidence. Once you have killed someone, you cannot restore them. In Cal a guy was recently released from prison after 28 YEARS for child molest and murder, but DNA evidence showed he could not possibly have done it. 28 years is a long time to have stolen from you, but at least the guy was alive.
3, its blood on your hands if you are screaming for somebody to be killed by the State, and it turns out he's innocent.
4, its too much power to put in the hands of Big Government. Big Government always gets carried away with power and this is about the most dangerous power to give it.

I have been talking about the death penalty for rapists and molestors for years. I think it needs to happen.
It seems that most of these types of animals (I hate to say people) are not capable of being rehabilitated. Why risk releasing them back into the world?
To those that say life in prison should be the punishment, think about murder. Not every murderer is sentenced to death. It could be the same with murder and rape. Not all of them get the death penalty, but some of them should!

I am a supporter of the death penalty.
But what if the child is lying?
The other day I pulled into my driveway and the neighbor kid rode up a few inches from my bumper on his bike. He is a special needs child and about five years old. I said to him, "You better be careful little guy, I wouldn't want my car to accidentally hurt you." I'll be damned if that kid didn't smile ear to ear and shout, "You did hurt me!" I stood there flabbergasted for a moment as several parents in the cul de sac looked at me quizzically. Very quickly I backed away and rushed into my house.

Definitely, we don't need those predators back on the street... they are sick people that will never change, no matter how much rehab they go through, nothing can change how their brains are wired.... I say we execute them on the first offense, then they won't ever have the opportunity to ruin another innocent child's life!

I love the quote. I think that it could be an option but every case is so different. My first instinct is to say yes, it should be imposed but then I think of those molesters who committ less severe acts and do so primarily because they were molested through most of there childhood. i think it is too complicated an issue to have one answer.
