Bettas are carnivores and eat insects in the wild. They should do fine with flakes, or pellets with worms/shrimp/fish as a primary ingredient. (Generally most food label for bettas in the store will do okay.) They are fond of bloodworms and brine-shrimp, but you should only use freeze dried worms/shrimp as live, or frozen can carry disease. Be aware that bettas are picky eater and may take a while to try a new food.
I've got lots of fish and like to feed a variety of food. My males greedily eat betta flakes, betta pellets, freeze dried brine shrimp, and a cooked and shelled pea after their weekly fast. My females wolf down the brine shrimp, and the molly's veggie flakes. (My females live in my main tank with my mollies, and own misc fish.) One thing to avoid is over feeding. (see bettatalk's betta belly pictures.)

Siamese fighting fish, aka Bettas, generally eat a pellet-based diet, however some people have trouble getting their fish to eat these as they can be too big or hard for the fish at first. Variety is also something that is usually overlooked although I think it's important. I alternate between pellets, flake, and bloodworms although there are other freeze-dried foods availible too.
Only feed once a day, and be careful not to feed too much. Observe how much it eats at once, as overfeeding can cause the water quality to drop dramatically especially if it live in s a small, unfiltered bowl or tank.

go tot he pet store where you got the fish, they usually have fish food in that area(or you can ask someone that works there to point it out). There will be containers with a picture of a Beta(Siamese fighting fish) on the bottle. Remember to only keep one fish in a bowl/tank because they will kill each other, & it also helps to boil water(& let it cool) before putting it in the tank, that way you get out any chemicals that aren't good for the fish. Enjoy your new pet, Betas are great fish & easy to take care of, they're the only fish I buy.
